Practice

Arcimage is an architectural practice located in Sydney providing the full range of architect design and planning services.  We have also completed projects, in regional NSW, South Australia and Queensland.

Vernacular architecture does not go through a fashion of cycle or styles.  Yet its beauty is timeless and has been admired by all.  Its architecture has understood the environment, topology, microclimate, sociology, the local context, building materials and construction methods.  Today many buildings have lost their understanding of these issues of their environment or “place”.

Our work has tried to understand the above and is sensitive to our environment, taking into consideration the topography, wind, rain, sun and the urban context. We are interested in natural light and the beauty of architectural and natural spaces.

We believe that excellence in architecture is not just in winning awards but understanding these issues in today’s contemporary context.  Environmental sustainable design should be part of the design process of all good architecture and not an add on.

Nick believes in providing good design with the same thoughtful process, whether in constructing a new structure or modifying an existing building.  His designs reflects, understanding of “place” and of today’s building approval process and controls, combined with our clients brief, and their financial constraints.  Good architecture should be environmental sustainable and affordable to all.

Projects completed include, individual residences, alterations to existing dwellings, adaptable housing, aged care facility and commercial buildings. Each individual design is our considered response to the clients brief and site constraints.

Our work has received commendation from various groups including, Southern Sydney Review Panel and the Bathurst Historical Housing Trust.  However, we are best known by our clients for our commitment to architectural excellence, fulfilling their design aspirations and working within their budgetary constraints.
